A day like no other - to Salta,Argentina.

Your correspondent is feeling a little under the weather and so today's post may be rather short. Not that the day didn't throw up lots to talk about though.

A border crossing into Argentina, then, 600 kms of Volcanoes, snowy peaks, salt flats, llamas, flamingoes and Vicunas, frozen lakes, temperate rainforest, staggeringly gorgeous lunar vistas, dramatic roads, thousands upon thousands of Seguaro cacti and altitudes reaching around 16,000 feet. Most mortals only reach those heights from the comfort of an aeroplane whilst anticipating a gin and tonic and not whilst driving up mountains gasping for air.

Also, rather thrillingly, we also crossed the Tropic of Capricorn today.

All in all simply wonderful!

Poor Stanley was a little hot again but an heroic effort saw him in before nightfall. Mark R. in the Jaguar, had fuel problems and, despite efforts by the great chaps in the Holden, and Adrian assisting we sadly left them with the mechanics very close behind. They too arrived in the light though, all fixed.

In short, a bit tricky in part, but a fabulous, exhilarating day of fully dropped jaws and minds blown. One of the great drives of the world.
