Sleepless in Savannah

The LR was waiting, patiently,in an American sized bonded warehouse. It had been given its own super-sized roped off area and was looking rather forlorn, but very pleased to see us.

Then we hit the shops: Camping World, Walmart, a CVS drugstore and Radio Shack, to buy loads of essentials for the trip. We stayed in a Holiday Inn last night as we had to sort out all the stuff and it was easier that way. It is from her hotel bed at 5.00am that your blogger is typing this missive. I'm looking around at the room and thinking that soon, after living in the back of a Defender, this standard issue H.I. will have all the appeal of a night the Ritz.

Today we are sightseeing in historic Savannah and then hitting the road.

    Your outfit looks great for the South, but we will have to tweak it for the Calgary Stampede!

To Bhutan...

Well. We saw elephants, amazing black squirrely things, hornbills, deer and various other birds.  Did I mention the rhino?  No?  Probably because we didn't see one.  Oh well. It was such a wonderful way to start the day though. Our small jeeps entered deep into the beautiful forest.  It was beautiful, just beautiful. I'm writing this sitting on a bench outside the customs office in Jaigon on the India side of the border.  I've been waiting to see all the cars through and it's only the mechanics to get their carnets dealt with.  A bit of a patchy blog as I'm now in Bhutan and it will soon be time to get up and begin our driving in this magical kingdom.
