A few days in Queenstown.

It's just nature, nature, nature here. Not that it isn't lovely, it is, but it's rather one dimensional. The people are generally very friendly - not that there are very many of them. South Island is very sparsely populated and we can drive for several hours and only see a handful of cars. The weather is not on our side, not that there is anything to be done about that, but we are certainly seeing some rain and gloomy days. All that greenness has to come from somewhere. When the mountains break through and we get some blue sky, the true beauty of this country shines.

We've been enjoying a couple of days rest at the luxurious Millbrook golf resort, just outside Queenstown. Our suites are huge and extremely comfortable, the gardens are immaculate and the food delicious. Last night we dined at a local winery after a tour of the cave, the countries largest, and a tasting session.

It is also a chance for some car maintenance, several cars have been having work done, but hopefully, all will be fine for setting off again tomorrow.

Car 10 has had its handbrake adjusted and a cup of oil added to lubricate its innards.  Nothing else has been necessary - so far. Its voluptuous curves are looking a little grubby, but while some crews have been busy cleaning their cars, we prefer to wear our filth with pride. The old girl is doing some work here.

Tomorrow, we head toward Milford Sound and fiordland. Let's hope that the rain gives us a break!
